专利说明:
Device for spreading an odor directly into a space, and space provided with such a device The present invention relates to a device for spreading an odor into a room. Devices for emitting a scent are known per se, and generally comprise means for blowing a scented liquid into a space, such as an essential oil, a perfume, a liquid-based aroma or liquid-based extract. However, the existing systems have various disadvantages. Because they are constructed in such a way that the oil is blown into the room by the air, they sputter when the oil is released, which not only counteracts a good distribution of the odor in the room, but also unpleasant noises and pollution of the surrounding environment. leads to a delivery point. Furthermore, their construction, in which both a compressor and a reservoir for the fragrance oil are placed in the vicinity of a dispensing point, entails various disadvantages. As a result, the devices cause a relatively large amount of noise, and when the reservoir is placed in the vicinity of the space in which the odor is to be emitted, condensation often forms in the reservoir, so that the device only spreads water in the space over time. . Moreover, the known devices are not capable of quickly providing a large room with a specific odor, or having odor changed. As a result, their area of application is limited to small spaces, or spaces in which the same or slightly different odor must always be applied. The present invention has for its object to provide a device for spreading a scent in a space, which at least partially removes at least one of the above-mentioned disadvantages, or to provide a usable alternative. To this end, the invention provides a device for spreading a scent in a space, comprising an air supply channel for pressurized air, a liquid supply channel for a scented liquid, such as an essential oil, a perfume, a liquid-based aroma or liquid-based extract, wherein, for example, the liquid supply channel passes into a hollow needle, an open end of which is received in the air supply channel, and wherein the air supply channel ends in a dispensing opening to open into the space. The liquid will usually be sprayed in the air emerging from the dispensing opening. In an alternative embodiment, use is made of a spraying device with a solid needle, or of a spraying device in which the air stream carries a scent substance directly from an opening of a reservoir or supply channel into the space to be provided with the scent. Due to this configuration, the scented liquid is entrained by the air stream, for example by means of venturi action, in the odor to be provided. It has been found that the device is capable of quickly providing a specific odor with a large space, or having odor changed. Moreover, the fragrances are sprayed directly, i.e. directly, into the cavity, instead of first being mixed with air to be passed through the device, which has the advantage over the known devices that not only the volatile components reach the cavity. In one embodiment of the present invention, the supply channel has a narrowed diameter at least around the open end of the hollow needle, which diameter extends further than the hollow needle in the direction of the dispensing opening. As a result, the speed and thus the suction force of the air at the level of the open end of the hollow needle is increased, as a result of which liquid is optimally entrained, and the air is precisely prevented from blowing the liquid into the needle. The needle preferably has an inner diameter of approximately 0.3 mm. It has been found that essential oils, perfumes, liquid-based aromas and liquid-based flavors with a viscosity between 0.79 and 1.1 can be released in the desired quantities of around 120 ml per hour. The needle preferably has an outer diameter of approximately 0.4 mm, in combination with a narrowed diameter of the channel of approximately 1.5 mm. In this way a sufficiently large air flow can be obtained for entraining the liquid. By obliquely cutting the open end of the hollow needle at an angle of about 30 degrees with respect to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the absorption of the liquid by the air flow can be further improved. A further advantage can be achieved if the part of the air supply channel with the narrowed diameter extends about 1.5 mm past the open end of the needle in the direction of the dispensing opening. It has been found that at this length the entrainment effect of the air flow is very satisfactory, while deposition of liquid around the dispensing opening is minimal. In a further embodiment the device comprises a switchable valve, included in the air supply channel, for the controlled release or blocking of the supply of compressed air. In a simple embodiment, the supply of air via the air supply channel is controlled by switching on and off a compressor for generating air pressure. A timer or other control or switching device may be provided for this purpose. The amount of liquid can be influenced by switching the air supply on and off in the air supply channel. When it is desirable to bring more liquid, or odorous liquid into the space, a valve is opened, or a compressor is switched on, and when the amount of liquid introduced into the space is considered sufficient, the valve is closed or a compressor is switched off. The inclusion of a valve in the air supply duct has the further advantage that the compressor used for generating compressed air does not have to be switched on and off to influence the odor in the room. This advantage is particularly present when such a compressor is also used for other purposes or installations. If the compressor is used specifically for supplying air to a single valve, it may be advantageous to switch the compressor itself. Advantageously, the valve is electrically switchable, and the device is further provided with means for controlling the valve according to a predetermined pattern. These means may comprise a computer system which is adapted to control one or more valves, and may be arranged or programmable for opening and closing the valves at predetermined times. Thus, for example, the course of the odor in the room can be determined over time (for example, depending on the moments when people are considered to be present in the room), or the structure of the odor can be determined over time (e.g. the strength of the scent over time, or the change or combination of odors over time). However, the presence of people in the room can be determined by means of a suitable device such as a sensor, wherein on the basis of a signal supplied by such a device the control means for switching the air supply on and off can be operated. The device can further be provided with a compressor for generating compressed air, with a pressure between 1 and 4 atmospheres. It has been found that with these pressures an optimum spread of the odor can take place within the space. Such a compressor can further be arranged for generating and delivering compressed air to a plurality of devices for spreading an odor into a room. Not only can a compressor already present in the vicinity of a room be used in this way, but also an energy-efficient arrangement can be achieved with respect to the situation in which a compressor must be arranged in the vicinity of each delivery point. In an advantageous embodiment of the present invention, the liquid supply channel has a head height between 0 and 5 meters. This makes it possible to place a liquid reservoir outside the space to be provided with an odor, and to store it under optimum conditions for the liquid used. These conditions may include, for example, a certain temperature or amount of light in order to prevent spoilage or condensation within the reservoir. As a result, it may also be possible to store a considerably larger amount of liquid, so that topping up of the device does not have to take place as frequently. After all, in existing cases the size of the reservoir can be limited by the location where the device is to be placed, which disadvantage is eliminated by the present invention by making it possible to store the liquid at a greater distance from the dispensing point. To this end, the liquid supply channel comprises, for example, a hose with an inner diameter of between 1 and 3, and preferably about 2 mm. Because this cross-section is larger than that of the needle, the hose causes a negligible feed-through friction for the liquid. The hose can herein have an outer diameter with a diameter of approximately 4 mm. Such a hose is not closed by the underpressure exerted by the air flow on the liquid, so that a continuous liquid supply is guaranteed. To be resistant to the effects of the liquids used, the device is preferably made at least partially from one or more of the materials: stainless steel, aluminum, polyoximethylene (POM), polyurethane (PUR) bakelite, glass or Teflon. To increase the ease of operation and to reduce the time required for maintenance, the needle is preferably designed as a removable replaceable needle. The invention will now be further elucidated with reference to the following figures, in which: Figure 1 shows a section of a device according to the present invention, and Figure 2 shows a space provided with a number of devices according to the present invention. Figure 1 shows a device 1 for spreading an odor into a space, comprising an air supply channel 2 for pressurized air, a liquid supply channel 3 for a scented liquid. The space is preferably, but not necessarily, a space temporarily visited by people, such as a sauna room, a cinema, a department store or a shopping center. The liquid supply channel 3 merges into a hollow needle 4, an open end 5 of which is received in the air supply channel 2, and wherein the air supply channel 2 ends in a dispensing opening 6 to be discharged into the space. The air supply channel 2 has at least around the open end 5 of the hollow needle 4 a portion 7 with a narrowed diameter, which extends further than the hollow needle 4 in the direction 8 of the dispensing opening. The end 5 of the hollow needle 4 is cut obliquely at an angle of about 30 degrees with respect to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the hollow needle 4. The device 1 is preferably made at least partially from one of the materials: stainless steel, aluminum, polyoximethylene (POM) , polyurethane (PUR) bakelite, glass or Teflon. Figure 2 shows a room 10A, formed by a cinema room, in which a number of devices 11, 12, 13 for spreading an odor according to the present invention are placed, as shown in Figure 1. The air supply channel of device 11 is connected via air line 15 with compressor 26, and the liquid supply channel of device 11 is connected via liquid hose 14 to reservoir 20, in which there is a first liquid, with a first odor. The air supply channel of device 12 is connected to compressor 26 via air line 17, and the liquid supply channel of device 12 is connected via liquid hose 16 to reservoir 21, in which there is a second liquid, with a second odor. The air supply channel of device 13 is connected via air line 19 to compressor 26 for generating compressed air, and the liquid supply channel of device 13 is connected via liquid hose 18 to reservoir 22, in which there is a third liquid, with a third odor. Compressor 26, as well as a portion of lines 15, 17, 19 and a portion of hoses 14, 16, 18, are located in a second space 10B, which is formed, for example, by a cellar under the cinema room 10A. The respective air valves 23, 24, 26 are included in the lines 15, 17, 19, which are controlled by a control system which may or may not be remote within or outside the space 10B, in the shown case formed by a computer system 27. The otherwise, it is also possible that selection valves are arranged in the liquid supply lines and that various reservoirs are connected to the same device. The computer system can be adapted to operate the air or liquid valves in dependence on the image sent by projector 28 in such a way that a scent fitting or associated with the displayed images is spread in the cinema. This odor may relate to a location where a film scene is taking place, and thus relate, for example, to sea air or forest air, or to a commercial message being displayed, and thus to a perfume air, a detergent air or a foodstuff air, such as that of a beverage or of popcorn which is sold in or near the cinema hall. In addition to the use in a cinema, there are numerous other applications in which the present invention can be used, such as that of a sauna room, in which a program of scents and odor intensities can be realized, for example menthol or vanilla odors, or a retail space, in which the smell of a fragrance line carried by the store. In addition, the invention can be used in spaces that are or are not accessible to the public, in which it is desirable to bring a fresh scent, such as for example changing rooms or toilets. It will be clear that the application of the invention is not limited to these types of spaces, but can also be applied to other spaces in which people temporarily reside during a visit.
